Meet Jo, a professional photographer…
I’m Joanna Nelson-Hauer, a professional photographer based at Hallidays Point on the Mid North Coast of Australia. There are many beautiful places surrounding Hallidays Point where I get to spend my days doing photography- including Forster, Tuncurry, Diamond Beach, Old Bar, Pacific Palms, Taree, Harrington and Wingham.
My family and I love the coast and we settled in the area at the beginning of 2016 after traveling Australia. That’s a whole other story- but one I do love to share! I’m all about capturing beauty in what I see. I love how photography gives me the chance to connect with people and places, and highlight beauty. As a professional photographer, I enjoy the challenge of using my technical skills together with creativity to bring out the best in my subject.
I’ve always been a creative soul. For me photography all started with my Dad’s Pentax camera and a hand-held light meter. I liked nothing better than playing with light and converting our laundry into a darkroom. Watching an image appear on the paper was like a beautiful little miracle.
I went on to study photography at University and work with other professionals. Soon I created my own photography business in the Lake Macquarie area. For about ten years I specialised in photographing weddings and families.
Now I’m a professional photographer on the Mid North Coast of NSW
I’ve since been photographing people, businesses and property professionally on the Mid North Coast of NSW where I now live. I’m often photographing homes and property seen on sites such as realestate.com.au.
Living in such a beautiful local area, I am often called on to photograph holiday properties which are listed on sites such as AirBnb. Working with local businesses, I also enjoy creating images that capture their brand, for online and print advertising. I create images that capture their people and products. Photography never stops fascinating me.
You can read more about my love of photography and more about me here in my blog. I link to my interview with Manning Valley and Great Lakes Focus Magazine in the October 2016 edition.
