Jeraine and Nathan’s Green Cathedral Wedding

November 20, 2017

Jeraine and Nathan’s Green Cathedral Wedding was full of beautiful, dreamy moments that I have to share. It all started when I saw her in that dress, in that window light… so stunning! I could have photographed Jeraine getting ready all day! Eventually it was time to get her to the ceremony where Nathan was waiting to catch a glimpse of his bride.

The Green Cathedral has to be one of the most romantic places to say your vows, and was the perfect setting. We made the most of the beautiful palm surroundings and captured some couple photos before we headed off with the bridal party. Photos in the trees beside the lake made for some lovely relaxed photos with the bridal party. I gave them plenty of time to catch up and enjoy themselves. Being a little adventurous always makes for great photos. So we just had to put the newly weds in a lovely paperbark tree on the shore where I captured plenty of natural and romantic moments for them.

Photos near the local jetty’s were our next stop for photos. Just a stones throw away from the reception venue at Hamilton’s Oyster Bar in Tuncurry. I was in love with the magical twilight I was given as the sun went down over their reception venue. What a gorgeous day!

Forster Wedding Photography

May 26, 2017

There are some beautiful weddings that I need to catch you up on! Forster wedding photography is so much fun because there are so many beautiful locations to choose from. I have had the pleasure of photographing some gorgeous wedding days locally, with some gorgeous people. Such a tough job being in the business of documenting love. I get to have all the fun.

Katie and Craig were married with a beautiful ceremony on the grass overlooking the tanks in Forster near Pebbly Beach. It was just magical watching the dolphins cruise by as they said their vows. They were a little worried about the forecast of rain, but it simply made for the most perfect moody sky while they were having photos together. We had photos near the Tanks and then made our way to Burgess Beach for more photos with the bridal party.

Jaire and Peter- Forster Wedding Photography

Jaire and Peter were married at the Green Cathedral in Pacific Palms as the sun made it’s way down to the horizon behind them over the lake. It was such a privilege to capture these moments for them. Of not only their love for each other but their love for their family who were such a special part of their day. I stole them away for some romantic sunset photos by the lake. Afterwards they continued to celebrate with family and friends at The Reef in Forster (one of my fave venues!).

These are just some of the beautiful people who have trusted me with capturing the fleeting moments of their wedding day recently. It is such a joy to be part of this happy time in peoples lives. I love capturing images that remind them of the way they felt. The nerves, the joy, the love and fun of it all.

Green Cathedral Wedding

Green Cathedral Wedding- Joanne and Roy

Joanne and Roy were married on Saturday 25th February 2017, with an intimate Green Cathedral wedding ceremony surrounded by close family and friends. With their gorgeous children celebrating alongside them as their bridal party, it was a beautiful thing to witness and capture. The joy and love that they share amongst them was easy to see from behind the camera. We went from the Green Cathedral in Tiona to One Mile Beach in Forster for some photos with the bridal party. We stopped briefly along the way for Joanne and Roy to attach their special lock to the fence at Bennetts Head Lookout. Such a great local tradition!

After some fun with the bridal party and plenty of kissing photos just to annoy the kids, we arrived back at the Colonel’s Cafe on the lake in Forster and they continued celebrating with their guests at this magical location. It truly was a pleasure to photograph this special time in their lives- enjoy the sneak peak!

Beautiful wedding albums

July 28, 2016

I have received my new range of wedding albums to display and I’m in love with them! I’m enjoying showing my clients how beautiful their photos will look in a custom designed wedding album from my new range.

Layflat Wedding Albums

When you are looking at memories, nothing beats the experience of sitting in a comfy chair and browsing through the pages of a beautiful album. It simply can’t be replaced by digital images! There is something lovely about opening an album with a gorgeous cover, being able to touch and point to the photos on the page. Slowly turning the pages with your hands instead of clicking a button on the computer.

There has been some amazing innovations in album design over the years. This means that you have access to modern book-like albums, with pages that look more like pages from a magazine. The modern style of albums means that images that are printed to the edge of the page. Unlike albums of the past, we are no longer printing individual photos that are matted and mounted on the page.

The range of albums that I have included in my wedding packages have lay-flat pages that allow panoramic layouts to spread across both pages when it’s open. So there are no cuts in the print where the pages join. This allows for some beautiful album designs! Ahh yes I’ve seen photobooks before- you may say. But there is actually a big difference in quality between photobooks that are readily available to anyone to design and purchase online, and the professional albums that I create for my clients. You will see the difference in quality mainly in the colour of the photos on the page, and the thickness of the pages.

Wedding Albums- My range

My album range starts with Lay-flat Art Books which are printed like a book with rich and brilliant colours. They have true layflat binding and 0.5mm thick pages, so they flex just a little. Next up from this style of album are my Premium Flushmount Albums. These also have layflat panoramic pages, and are very strong rigid at 1.3mm thick. With these albums, the page designs are printed on high grade photo paper, which has a premium result.

I’m looking forward to designing many more beautiful wedding albums for my clients to curl up on the lounge with, and enjoy! Wedding photography is much more fun with albums! If you would like to arrange an appointment so that you can flip through some albums in person, please contact me! I would love to meet with you.

Hallidays Point- starting something new!

June 16, 2016

I am really excited to re-launch my photography business Jo Nelson Photography- as a Photographer in the Forster area! Welcome to my blog! I’m now based in Hallidays Point which is near Forster, on the Mid North Coast in NSW. This is where my family and I have relocated, after traveling during 2015.

Photographer in Hallidays Point

“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” so the saying goes.

Could we be off to a good start here? Sure, it’s a wedding saying- but I couldn’t help but notice that it fits (I suppose being in the wedding industry, you can’t help but think of wedding sayings!)…

New… After spending last year traveling around Australia with my family, it’s exciting to have settled in a new area here at Hallidays Point, 20 minutes from Forster. ready to start something new… wedding and portrait photography in a new location, with a new name.

Old… But of course it’s certainly not new all together, this photography thing that I do. I surprised myself when I realised that I have been working in photography for about ten years now! I have enjoyed the many years working in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie region. So I’m actually continuing something that is an old love of mine.

Borrowed… When I was trying to picture my business here in our newly found home locale, it simply felt right that my business should borrow my name, because this is the kind of community where people get to know each others names… and so, ‘Jo Nelson Photography’ was born.

Blue… Ok, so there is blue in my logo, but I call it teal. That one is simple hey.

I’m actually not superstitious at all- but I do love weddings, and at least that helped to kick things off! So now I’ll keep explaining what’s happening here at Jo Nelson Photography.

Now that we have settled at Hallidays Point, the caravan is away…

I’m really excited to have moved to such a gorgeous coastal location, and we are also surrounded by many other beautiful locations that I’m looking forward to exploring as I photograph weddings and portraits.

I am completely spoilt in being able to experience so many amazing locations around Australia with my family last year. It was a brilliant adventure- and part of my philosophy to live life to the full. We formed so many great friendships on the road. And have so many memories etched in our minds of moments together where we felt the awe, laughter, tranquility, challenges and joy of our surroundings and time together. Relationships are so important and that’s why I love what I do- photographing people and their connection with each other, and so I’m looking forward to the future as a wedding and portrait photographer in Forster.

2015 adventure

I’m currently working on being part of a few local upcoming bridal expo’s around Forster and Taree- so more to come on this in the near future.

I look forward to sharing with my blog followers many of the lovely people and places that I photograph. I hope that you will follow along and join me on this new adventure of mine around lovely Forster.

In the meantime- why don’t you have a look around my lovely new website! Start with my portfolio to look through some of my favourite images that I’ve put together.
